Throwing Mandarin Orange On Chinese Valentine
Malaysian Hokkien Chinese celebrated the 15th day of the Chinese New Year festivities with what is considered their version of the Valentine’s Day. I’m not sure since when this culture has started or the story behind; all I know is mommy said that on the 15th day of Chinese New Year all single lady and man will gather at the river or a pond side. The Ladies will pick one fresh orange and write down their number and then throw it down to the river or pond. The single gentleman will have to try his luck to grab an orange from the pond. This is some kind of traditional old style match making as Chinese always believe is faith.
When I reach the ladies have already throw the mandarin oranges to the lake.
